By using advanced materials and their combinations, combined with the advantages of the fluid bed technique, specially in the field of high temperature processing, possibilities now exists which allow meeting the expectations of exciting developments in the new centennial.

In the past, chemical reactions of powders with gases, especially at temperatures up to 1200°C could only be realized with extraordinary expenditures; and for the typical fluid bed applications like calcination, tempering, dehydration, reduction, oxidation, and other gas/solid reactions, the pilot and commercial systems were very expensive and none flexible. The interest in intermediate to high temperature material processing has increased during the recent years. This will continue in future considering the developments in catalyst manufacturing, advanced materials for high-tech industry, and ceramic products.
